4 cups tart apples, cored and sliced

1/2 cup oats (not steel cut)

1/2 cup almond flour or whole wheat flour

1/4 cup coconut sugar or organic cane sugar

2 Tbsp melted grass fed butter or coconut oil

1/4 cup chopped walnuts

2 tbsp lemon juice

1 tsp lemon zest

1 tsp cinnamon

dash of nutmeg

dash of ginger

2 tbsp water

Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Combine apples, lemon juice, lemon zest, water,  cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger in small bowl.  Allow to sit for at least 10 minutes.

In another small bowl, combine sugar, oats, flour, walnuts and butter.

Place apples in an 8 inch square pan.  Top evenly with oat mixture.  Place in oven for  40-45 minutes until apples are tender and oats are golden brown.
